Jessica Canty served as Miss Bowie State University 2006-2007. In 2007, she received a BS in Psychology with a minor in Business, and subsequently a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Howard University.
While a senior in high school, Jessica was introduced to the current Miss Bowie State University, Crystal Long. It was her amazing spirit that inspired Jessica to pursue the position. Throughout her tenure at Bowie, Jessica served in various student government positions. She feels the skills, knowledge, and experience gained from those roles helped her rejuvenate the business aspect of being a university queen.
After her reign as Miss Bowie ended, her fervor for serving others ignited. It drove her to start an organization, in conjunction with other alumna queens that would give back to reigning queens and young woman who aspire to become a queen at Historically Black Colleges and Universities. She is now able to continue that mission with Queen to Queen, Inc. as the Chair of Current Queens Inclusion and Director of Reigning Royalty.
Jessica is currently on the board of directors for Bowie State University’s Radiance Student Leadership Institute for Freshman Women and a mentor for the Society for Girls, Inc. She is a proud member of Swing Phi Swing SFI ®.
